Hi, today I’m sharing my review for Begin Again. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this arc in exchange for an unbiased honest review.

Happy Publication Day Mona!!!

Title:Begin Again

Author: Mona Kasten

Publisher: Bastei Entertainment

Publishing Date: 14th November 2017

Language: English

Description:

He makes the rules. She breaks them all. A new start.

It’s the only thing keeping Allie Harper going, when she packs up her life and moves across the country to Woodshill, Oregon. She’s about to start college, desperate to leave the ghosts of her past behind her. Even if that means never talking to her parents again.

Now the hard part – finding an apartment before classes start. Just when it seems she’ll have to live out of her car, Allie visits one more place. It’s beautiful. With one exception: can she stand being roommates with campus bad boy Kaden White? Sure, Kaden is sexy with his tattoos and careless attitude, but he’s also an arrogant jerk. With nowhere else to go, Allie moves in.

The first thing Kaden does is make a set of rules. Either Allie obeys, or she’s out:

1. Don’t talk about your girl problems.

2. Keep your mouth shut if I bring someone home.

3. We will NEVER hook up.

Easy enough, thinks Allie. Who would want to get involved with a brute like Kaden? But the more she gets to know him, the more she sees beyond his gruff facade. He, too, is harboring some painful secrets. For Kaden and Allie, it gets harder and harder to ignore the sparks between them. And the lines between the rules start to blur-

Begin Again is a beautiful romance that shows us just how possible it is to start over. To find freedom in heartbreak and love in the most unlikely places.

My Review:

The first thing that caught my attention when I saw it on Netgalley was the beautiful modern cover.
I throughly enjoyed this book. This is the first book, I have read from this author and it didn’t disappoint.

It grips you from the get go.. I devoured this book in one sitting and it’s a very easy and fast read.

I fell in love with Allie and Kaden from the start. Allie reminded me a little bit about myself I think, so I completely related to her character.

She left her hometown to escape her family, friends and the town. Starting completely new in Woodshill. New town, new home, university and new friends.

Kaden is your typical troubled bad boy. He appears arrogant at first but as the book goes on and he is totally different at heart.

I loved following their relationship and how they grew and blossomed both in their relationship and themselves. It’s a typical college romance but it also teaches you that being in love, although it can be difficult, a good relationship sees both of you through the good and bad times, building each other up and making each into the best you can be.

I loved Spencer,Dawn and the other characters aswell. Dawn is super sweet, a good friend. Spencer is lovely, kind, funny and I’m definitely interested in reading about him and dawn some more.

This is a German novel by a German author which has been translated into English from what I’ve Researched, she has #2 Trust Again & #3 Feel Again books out in German. Number 2, is Spencer and Dawns Story.

I would highly recommend this book, I don’t normally read a lot of romance but I am really super glad, I took the chance with this book. I loved it.

I was asked this in the comments so I will add it to this review… I completely forgot to add me it so I apologise.

How was the translation from German to English?

I thought the translation was pretty good, I didn’t find any words etc that didn’t make sense. It flowed really well and you wouldn’t think it was translated at all.

Another point.. as the author is from Germany. You can tell she did a lot of research about America as her novel was very well thought out and you would think she lived in the town or visited etc where the novel was set.

If you anyone has anymore questions, please don’t hesitate to comment, email or find me on social media.

  1. I recently read a book translated from Norwegian and didn’t care for it. I’m glad you addressed the translation in a comment above because I’m totally asking for this on NetGalley now. 😀

    • I will add it to my review.. I forgot to write notes as I was into the book. And I forgot to add it to the post. I have a terrible memory lol 😂 let me know and link me back to your review/post when it’s up 🙂

  2. I haven’t read a translated book before. I worry that the language will be…well, off. Did this book have those issues? The story sounds good so it is definitely something I am interested in..

  3. Good review. I’m in a bit anti-romance right now because I think I’ve read too many. This one looks good, but may a little too sappy for me. I’m glad you enjoyed it though and thanks for the review.
